Ezekiel Bernardo - First Filipino to win prestigious IEA/Kingfar HFE Research Award

A FACULTY MEMBER FROM THE GOKONGWEI COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING has made history as the first Filipino recipient of the prestigious 2024 IEA/Kingfar Award for Research in Human Factors/Ergonomics Issues, held recently in Jeju, Korea.

The winner, Dr. Ezekiel Bernardo of the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering, bagged the top prize in the student category for his groundbreaking research in Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI), which challenges the very nature of how we interact with technology. The research seeks to transform AI from an enigmatic black box into a transparent ally that users can genuinely understand and trust.
