Celebrating Excellence in Ergonomics: Alma Maria Jennifer Gutierrez Receives IEA Fellow Award

De La Salle University’s esteemed professor, Alma Maria Jennifer Gutierrez, has made history as the first Filipino to receive the International Ergonomics Association (IEA) Fellow Award. This accolade, presented in Jeju, Korea, recognizes individuals with extraordinary, sustained contributions to the human factors and ergonomics (HF/E) community at an international level.
Dr. Gutierrez's achievements extend beyond this milestone. She has also been honored as the Southeast Asian Network of Ergonomics Societies (SEANES) Educator of the Year in 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand. Currently, she serves as the co-chair of the International Development Standing Committee of the IEA and is the President of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of the Philippines (HFESP).
Her extensive academic and leadership roles include serving as a Full Professor and former Chairperson of the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department at De La Salle University. She has held positions as Vice-Chairperson and conference chair for the Asian Council of Ergonomics and Design and SEANES 2020. Additionally, Dr. Gutierrez is the lead editor of the Convergence of Ergonomics and Design Proceedings ACED-SEANES, 2020, published under Advances in Intelligent Systems and Computing.
This groundbreaking recognition highlights Dr. Gutierrez’s dedication to advancing ergonomics and human factors on a global scale, serving as an inspiration for scholars and professionals in the Philippines and beyond.
